Drop Box, Google Drive and More, Oh No

Drop Box and other file sync/Backup utilities are all the rage.  They allow you to back up key files to the cloud and use them on multiple computers. You can even view your files on your smartphone.

However, these utilities are best used for flat files only.  (files like word, excel, PowerPoint, all work fine)  Databases, like Access, ACT, SQL, and Quickbooks do not work reliably on such platforms.

In the case of ACT! CRM, the database files (the alf and adf) are actually attached and kept in use by the SQL engine that powers your database.
